Xydoon Comic Productionby ~KlausScherwinski

Traditional Art / Drawings / Illustration / Conceptual

Procuction sketches for the comic story "XYDOON SPEAKS..." for the Welten des Schreckens (German: Worlds of Terror) anthology comic magazine. 6 pages, two days.

1) The thumbnails: Around 3 by 4 inches. You can see how I scribbled the characters' Names into them and in their word balloons so I could tell them apart. (H=Harriman), J=Jones)

2) Desigs: I stole from Perry Rhodan, Captain Power and Captain Future. And probably "Red Planet" for which I am ashamed. How to tell two characters in the same type of space suits apart? I went with thin and "chubby". More below under 4)

3) Pencils: Blew up the thumbnail to A4 format and lighttabled the thing, finalising the art.

4) Harriman: As astronauts should basically all be trim I couldn't make Harriman really fat so he got just a bit bigger round the waist and got a samples container to make him appear broader. Jones received the staff-like probing device, thereby elongating his shape, making him leaner. Makes sense?

5) Color: Flats by Gunther Klippel and another hour of work later adding textures, and color...DONE.

wenn ich mich da so dran erinnere, was wir in dem kurs teilweise gemacht haben, merkt man doch einen kleeeeinen unterschied

Wuhu! Einfach perfekt! Ich dachte nach den ersten Skizzen ja schon: "Hm, an und für sich ist das schon klasse, da braucht er keine auffälligen Farben mehr".

Aber hey, ich hab mich geirrt: Mit den Farben ist es einfach großartig. Da ist einfach Atmosphäre drin. Hut ab, tolles Zeug und weil die Skizzen drin sind lass ich mich jetzt erstmal ein bisschen von dir inspirieren

sehr sehr schön, klaus.

pencils wirken (bei guten leuten!) oft viel dynamischer als das getuschte endresultat. und bei der heutigen druck- und computertechnik sind solche sachen ja auch lecker zu reproduzieren. freue mich auf die komplette geschichte in HS ...
